Policy on Transferring to the American Academy for Girls
from a British school system
Students transferring from the British system of "YEARS" are sometimes confused when change is made to the American system of "GRADES". The British system of years 1-13 is not numerically equivalent to the American system of grades 1-12. Parents need to be aware of this. For example, a student who COMPLETED YEAR 9 in the British system and would be entering Year 10 of British system, will be accepted into GRADE 9 of the American system. The level of academic Year 9 is considered equivalent to Grade 8 in the American system.
