Kuwait is situated on the northwestern corner of the of the Arabian Gulf between latitudes 28' and 30' north, and longitudes 46' and 48' east. On the north and west it shares a border with Iraq extending for 240 kilometres; on the south and southwest it has a common border with Saudi Arabia extending for 250 kilometres: on the east the coastline of the Arabian Gulf extends for 210 kilometres. Area: 17,818 sq km.
Kuwait has a desert climate; long hot and dry summers with short, mild winters when there is occasional rainfall. Sandstorms may occur in the summer months, though this has not been a recent phenomenon. Humidity may occasionally reach high levels during these months.
